Watch this terrifying yet beautiful time
Your luck can change on a dime in New York City -- and rain will likely have something to do with it.
The Big Apple has been dealing with the torrential effects of bad storms over the past several months. Up until now we've only seen endless, hellish Twitter videos of subway flooding. But now, in a time-lapse video captured on an iPhone XR, we can get a different perspective on the city's weather problems. The video comes courtesy of Reddit user allsp49, who shot it from a vantage point in Jersey City, right across the water from Manhattan.

From this angle it's beautiful instead of a revolting stew of sewer rats.
Granted it's also a bit terrifying watching the clouds storm across a city, cloaking its approximately 8.5 million citizens in impenetrable rain and lightning. Remember that New York is one of the highest risk cities for dangerous weather caused by climate change, and watching its lights go out even for a second is devastating.
But for now let's take a moment of respite from that harsh reality, to instead revel in the glory of a city that still glistens no matter what storm it's weathering.
